Our family warmly welcomes you to join us in remembering our son, Brody Patrick, on Saturday, May 19th for a fun and festive, uplifting 5K walk/run/roll, in support of Faith's Lodge.  We have made this event a tradition with family and friends since we lost Brody in 2015.  It's sureal to think that he would be turning three years old this July.  My, how different our household would be, with a little boy running around, tormenting his big sisters.  Instead, we have Brody to watch over us, and a one year old little girl to add to our bundle of bows and ribbons, and the occasional snappy attitude from our 6 and 8 year old girls... 

I am not a sappy person, and I refuse to float through life with a 'poor me' attitude.  So on this day of the walk/run/roll, I laugh, I hug my loved ones, and I run with the people that have helped support us while daydreaming about Brody and what he's up to while watching over us.  The most important reason for joining our family in this opportunity to get outside and be active, is to support an organization that I love and am passionate about.  Faith's Lodge helped my husband and I find light, during some dark times.  Nobody expects to lose a child...everyone expects that the worst won't happen to them.  But we're normal people, and we lost our little boy, and in spite of feeling alone on an island of grief, we found love and support from other normal people, where the worst had found them too.  They're amazing people that I'm thankful for, and had Faith's Lodge not existed, we may still feel alone on that island, floating along in whatever pattern of grief we'd be most comfortable in.  

So come join us, get outside, get to know others, connect with people, and enjoy some sunshine on a spring day in Minnesota.  If you can't make it, we appreciate any donation you are willing to part with.  I don't like asking others for money in fundraising, but I sure like honoring my son, and supporting other parents that may walk down a path I've been down in loss.  I can say one thing with confidence, I will always be first in line to help support another person that has lost a child, should they want or ask for it.  I will also be first in line to recommend Faith's Lodge to those that have lost a child, it's the most tasteful way one can honor their loss, own their grief, understand where they are in grief, and connect with their spouse to pull together as a team to get through something so awful that life throws at you.
