Ella Kate was born on April 1, 2015 at 28 weeks gestation due to severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. She weighed a tiny 1 pound 7 ounces and fought hard all 10 days of her life. She amazed all of her doctors and nurses with her spunk and fight. She is and forever will be our first born, our tiny butterfly girl.
A few months after Ella Kate left us, we went on a weekend retreat to a place called Faith's Lodge. To say that this place totally changed our lives is an understatement. We were able to say her name and talk about her with other parents that truly understood exactly what we were going through as they had experienced the same unfortunate circumstances. One place at the lodge that holds a special place in our hearts is the fire pit. We feel it was here that our group of six families were able to open up and bond and just feel like real parents even though our children aren't here in the physical world with us. We would love to be able to give back to Faith's Lodge as they were such a building block in providing us with the support we desperatley needed after we lost Ella Kate.
Our plan is to fundraise enough money ($5,000) to be able to name the fire pit after Ella Kate. Any additional funds will go directly to the lodge to support funding for bereaved families. We thank you for your support not only with this fundraiser, but also for allowing us to say her name.
